Well, the big news around here is that I finally figured out why Mom had that tummy bump -- turns out I've got one of those, what you call, "brothers!" He's just a little slip of a thing, 9 pounds 7 ounces, and they're calling him Keegan. That means "the little fiery one" in Gaelic, but the kid seems mellow enough; he just wants to eat and sleep. But for some strange reason, the media coverage of this kid has been intense! Mom was gone for a few days for his birth at CPMC, and they spent a lot of time at the hospital taking care of all the details, like teaching him how to eat and poop or whatever. Fortunately, Daddy came home to see me and Esperanza, and Grammy was in town to hang out, so I got to be with her a lot when she wasn't cooing over Keegan.
After a couple of days, though, I headed over to the hospital to meet Keegan for myself (video), and cameras were snapping. I walked over to the nursery to pick him up with Mom and Dad, and he had lots of presents for me, which I had a good time opening -- so, I guess he's OK. All right, I'll be honest -- I've been extremely curious about him, and I can do a very good impression of him already. I often get lifted up to see him, and he's even more fun than a puppy. Mom and Dad won't let me put my fingers in his mouth, but I did manage to lick him once. He tasted OK.
Keegan came home last week, and we've been hanging out together -- I'm starting to wonder if he's ever planning to leave. Mom had a big photo shoot for him on Day 5, with the cushy blankets and the whole deal, which was a touch pretentious in my opinion, but other than that he's been down to earth. I took some time to help Mom, Dad, and Grammy give him a bath, along with my old buddy Pablo, too.
Things seem to be getting back to normal -- I'm learning more and more words (ball, turtle, bubble, soap, baby, oval, and Mommy's favorite, "faw faw faw", which means por favor, or "please"). I'm walking all over the place, improving my technique with spoons, and cracking up Mom and Dad -- these two a couple of soft touches! O, yeah, I've also discovered how to turn myself invisible, just by going to a certain corner of my room, next to the crib. I'm telling you, this is brilliant -- everyone should do it!
In case you're wondering, we're keeping the name "kaiupdate", despite the arrival of Keegan, at least for now. Mom and Dad don't care to do the scramble to change it, and if you ask me, that's the way it should be. I mean, Keegan doesn't even know how to talk yet, right?
